"Zhoonyia" is a community based group that pools their resources in order to help tribal members increase financial security and build assets in a sustainable and culturally appropriate way.

Entrepreneurship, managing money and credit will be focus of upcoming free workshops on Tuesday October 11, 2011

Lac du Flambeau, WI – Zhoonyia Gikendasowin (Money Knowledge) will present an all-day event on Tuesday, October 11, 2011 at the Lac du Flambeau Veterans Building in recognition of Wisconsin Money Smart Week (October 8 – 14). Workshops and discussions are scheduled as follows:

10:00 to 11:30 AM CASH AND CREDIT: YOUR PERSONAL BALANCE SHEET

Noon to 2:30 PM INSURANCE and EMPLOYEE BENEFITS

3:00 to 4:30 PM LOANS, LENDERS, TERMS AND FEES

5:00 to 6:30 PM BEWARE: ID THEFT AND SCAMS

ATTEND ANY ONE OR ALL OF THE SESSIONS!

This event is free and open to the public. Food and refreshments will be served all day. There will be freebies, door prizes and raffles. Everyone in the community is encouraged to drop In for workshops as their interests and schedules permit. Also available all day will be information about free services and businesses who can assist community members with financial information and services.

In the summer of 2011, Zhoonyia is hosting a series of events over your lunch hour in Lac du Flambeau called, "Wiisini Gikendan" or lunch and learn.  These events are free to the public!

Lunch starts at noon (12:00 - 1:30) at the Veterans Center and there is a short presentation with an opportunity for you to ask questions.   These sessions are every third wednesday of the month.
